What happened

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2013-2014 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner EFX school buses manufactured between March 29, 2012, and November 14, 2012, that are equipped with the 100% Daytime Running Lights option. The defect involves a circuit breaker that may trip during continuous operation of the headlights in high beam mode, causing a loss of power to the headlights, marker lights, tail lights, and dash lighting. This loss of power could reduce the driver's ability to see other vehicles, pedestrians, or objects, and reduce the bus's visibility to other drivers or pedestrians, increasing the risk of a crash.

Daimler Trucks North America has notified affected owners, and dealers will replace the circuit breaker free of charge. The recall began on December 14, 2012. Owners of affected buses should contact the Thomas Built Buses Warranty Department at 1-366-889-4871.
