2008 BLUE BIRD L4RE; 2009 BLUE BIRD L4RE; 2007 BLUE BIRD L4RE
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
North American Bus Industries Inc. (NABI) is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Blue Bird L4RE transit buses that were manufactured between July 1, 2007, and October 31, 2009. These buses may have a defective steering gear attachment, where cracks can develop in the bracket that secures the power steering gear to the bus frame or in the bus frame itself around the bolts that attach the steering gear bracket. If left unchecked, these cracks may propagate and cause partial separation of the steering gear from the bus frame, resulting in a loss of steering control and increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
NABI will notify owners of affected buses, and authorized dealers will inspect and repair the buses at no charge. The recall began in March 2013. Owners of potentially affected buses should contact NABI at 1-256-831-4296.
