What happened

New Flyer of America is recalling certain transit buses from model years 2004 through 2011, including the C35LF, C40LFR, D35LFR, D40LF, D40LFR, D60LF, D60LFA, D60LFR, DE35LFA, DE40LF, DE40LFA, DE40LFR, DE60LF, DE60LFA, DE60LFR, and XDE40 models. The drive shaft access panel on these buses may not be sufficiently strong or properly secured to the floor, which could allow debris from a drive shaft failure to enter the passenger compartment and potentially injure bus occupants.

New Flyer notified owners on January 3, 2013. Dealers will install a steel plate under the access panel on affected buses at no cost. Owners who believe their bus is affected should contact New Flyer at 1-204-224-6706 for more information.
