What happened

Forest River is recalling certain 2011 and 2012 trailers manufactured between August 11, 2011, and April 11, 2012, that are equipped with Carlisle Toy Hauler series trailer wheels. The wheels were manufactured with machine dimensions that did not meet required specifications for the center cap and steel lug inserts, which means the wheels may not be tightened to the proper torque during mounting. If the wheels are not properly tightened, they could loosen and separate from the trailer, potentially causing a vehicle crash and creating a road hazard.

Forest River will notify owners and provide a free wheel replacement through dealers. The recall began on January 10, 2013. Owners of affected trailers should contact Forest River at 1-574-389-4600 to arrange the replacement.

Hazard

If the wheels are not tightened to the proper torque, the wheels could loosen, leading to wheel separation, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash. A detached wheel also becomes a road hazard.

What should I do?

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wheels free of charge. The recall began on January 10, 2013. Owners may contact Forest River at 1-574-389-4600.
