General Motors is recalling certain 2011-2013 Buick Regal and 2013 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles because of a problem with their front turn signals. These vehicles have two bulbs in each front turn signal lamp, but if one bulb burns out, the driver receives no warning that the turn signal is no longer working properly. This creates a safety hazard because other drivers may not realize the affected vehicle is turning, which increases the risk of a crash.
To fix this issue, GM will notify owners and dealerships will update the body control module software at no cost to the owner. The recall began in September 2014. Affected owners can contact Buick at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 for more information about the recall, which is identified by GM recall number 12212.
