2007 MERCURY MONTEGO; 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2007 Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego vehicles manufactured between September 5, 2006, and September 11, 2006. The fuel tanks in these vehicles may have inconsistent welds between the fuel tank and fuel filler neck spud that could compromise the strength of the joint. If the weld is improper, it may crack during a severe rear impact, potentially causing fuel leakage that could result in a fire if an ignition source is present.
Affected owners should contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332. Dealers will replace the fuel tank free of charge as part of this recall, which began on August 16, 2011.
