2010 HYUNDAI SANTA FE
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Hyundai is recalling certain 2010 Santa Fe 2WD vehicles with automatic transmissions and 2.4L engines that were manufactured between October 15, 2009 and March 5, 2010. The intermediate shaft may become misaligned with the right side output gear, causing noise and excessive wear. If driving continues in this condition, a whirring or whining noise will develop and the automatic transmission may eventually be damaged, which could cause a loss of engine power and increase the risk of a crash.
Hyundai dealers will replace the right side output gear and intermediate shaft at no cost to owners. The recall was expected to begin in June 2011. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Hyundai's Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-633-5151.
