International Motors is recalling certain 2011 and 2012 commercial trucks, including the Durastar, Paystar, Workstar, Transtar, Lonestar, and Prostar models manufactured between November 5, 2010, and March 10, 2011. These trucks have a defect in the brake system's electronic control unit that prevents the trailer ABS fault indicator lamp from illuminating when there is a problem with the trailer's anti-lock brake system. When this warning light fails to work, drivers may not realize a trailer brake fault exists, which could increase the risk of a crash.
To address this issue, Navistar will notify owners and dealers will reprogram or replace the brake system electronic control unit at no charge. The recall began on May 12, 2011. According to the record, affected consumers should contact Navistar at 1-800-448-7825.
