MT&G REAR AXLE CROSS PIN

  • Brand MT&G

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Machine Tool & Gear, Inc. is recalling certain rear axle cross pins (part numbers 25824249 and ED69145) that were sold as service parts for General Motors vehicles. The pins were not properly heat treated and could fracture and become displaced within the rear axle. If the pin shifts out of position, it could cause the rear axle to lock, preventing the driver from maintaining directional control of the vehicle and potentially causing a crash without warning.

General Motors dealers will install a new rear axle cross pin free of charge, with the recall expected to begin in January 2011. Affected owners should contact their vehicle manufacturer's customer service line: Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339, Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, or visit the owner center at www.gmownercenter.com.
