  • Brand HONDA

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Honda is recalling 2007 and 2008 Honda Fit vehicles because the low beam headlights can stop working, which reduces the driver's ability to see the road and makes the vehicle less visible to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. The problem occurs because the wiring harness for the headlight combination switch was installed incorrectly, causing the wires to be pulled too tight. When the headlight switch is used repeatedly, the electrical connector terminal for the low beam circuit wears down and develops poor conductivity due to copper oxide buildup.

Owners of affected vehicles should contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009 to schedule service with an authorized Honda dealer. Dealers will inspect the low beam terminal and perform any necessary repairs at no charge to the vehicle owner. The safety recall began on January 24, 2011.

Details from the source

HONDA IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2007-2008 HONDA FIT VEHICLES. DUE TO AN ERROR DURING INSTALLATION OF THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE COMBINATION SWITCH THAT CONTROLS LOW HEAD BEAM FUNCTION, THE WIRES FOR THE LOWER BEAM CIRCUIT WERE PULLED TIGHTER THAN INTENDED. AFTER REPEATED USE OF THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH, THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR TERMINAL FOR THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT CAN BECOME WORN AS A RESULT OF THIS TENSION, WHICH CAN RESULT IN LOW CONDUCTIVITY AND CAUSE AN ACCUMULATION OF COPPER OXIDE IN THE AREA OF THE CONTACTS.
