Foretravel is recalling certain 1998, 1999, 2001, and 2002 model U320 coaches equipped with 1200-series Norcold refrigerators. These refrigerators contain a sensing algorithm or thermal switch designed to shut off power when high temperatures are detected to prevent fires caused by potential hydrogen gas leaks. However, the response times of these devices are not sufficient to shut off power quickly enough to prevent a fire from occurring.
Affected owners will be instructed by Foretravel and Norcold to contact Norcold dealers to receive the remedy free of charge. Owners may contact Norcold at 1-800-767-9101 or Foretravel at 1-936-564-8367 for more information. The recall began on December 10, 2010. Additional information is available in Norcold's defect report 10E-049.
