What happened

Certain Girardin and Micro Bird by Girardin transit buses from model years 2003 through 2010 have defective emergency exit windows that may not properly restrain occupants during a crash or may become inoperable. The windows are equipped with two release mechanisms, but the window handle base spacer plate can tear when the exterior window frame rotates, which could prevent occupants from opening the emergency exits or cause them to be thrown from the vehicle during an accident.

Girardin will notify owners and provide replacement parts and repair instructions at no cost. The recall began on October 8, 2010. Affected owners should contact Micro Bird at 1-819-477-2012 to arrange for the repair.

GIRARDIN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND WILL PROVIDE PARTS TO PERFORM THE REPAIR ALONG WITH INSTRUCTIONS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 8, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MICRO BIRD AT 1-819-477-2012.
