What happened

Certain Mazda passenger cars—including CX-5 (KE), CX-3 (DK), 3 (BL), 5 (CW), and 6 (GH, GJ) models—are subject to a recall due to corrosion of the tailgate shock absorber. The corrosion can cause the shock absorber to break, which may result in sudden opening of the tailgate and luggage falling onto the road, creating an accident risk. The affected vehicles do not comply with regulations governing motor vehicle approval and market surveillance.

Mazda, as the manufacturer, is conducting a recall of the product from end users, with the recall measure entering into force on December 15, 2021. The source does not specify what remedy or corrective action an affected consumer should pursue.
