Baby cot, "Stratford Cot Bed"

  • Brand Cosatto

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

The Stratford Cot Bed by Cosatto, manufactured between September 1, 2005 and March 18, 2009, poses a risk of entrapment and asphyxiation injuries. The hazard occurs when the cot is lifted, causing the two split end sections to separate and allowing the metal guide rod to drop out of or lift out of the top or bottom drop side brackets. If the rod does not reinsert when the cot is placed back on the floor, the drop side may become insecure and can disengage from the cot end, creating a gap between the mattress base and drop side where a child could become trapped.

The Stratford Cot Bed is a wooden flat-pack cot bed approximately 1030 mm high and 1450 mm long, featuring one drop side and one fixed side with slatted plastic teething rails, in-filled cot ends, and a slatted mattress base with three height settings that converts to a child's bed. This recall applies only to units manufactured during the specified batch date period. The source does not specify a remedy for affected consumers.

Hazard

null The product poses a risk of injuries (entrapment and asphyxiation) because when the cot is lifted, a separation of the two (split) end sections can lead to the metal guide rod dropping out of the top drop side bracket or lifting out of the bottom drop side bracket with the rod not reinserting when the cot is placed back on the floor. There is a risk that if the metal guide rod is not re-inserted back into the brackets, the drop side may not be secure. The drop side can disengage from the split cot end and a child may become trapped in the gap between the mattress base and the drop side.
