A Royal brand lighting chain has been recalled due to serious electric shock hazards. The product has inadequate insulation covering its electrical connections, failed high-voltage testing, undersized wiring, a cable that is too short, sharp cable inlets, and unsecured wires that can become damaged. The affected models are the 0601 (100-lamp, 6-meter chain) and 0604 (240-lamp, 13-meter chain), identifiable by their bar codes 6924524300122. These products do not meet European safety standards and regulations.

The product poses a serious risk of electric shock because:- the insulation is not sufficient (only single insulation cover the connections), - flashover occurred at 3050V/2800V when tested the insulation, - the cross section of the core is too small, - the length of the cable is too short (0,9/0,91 m), - the cable inlets are sharp, - the wires are not secured against loosening, they can get damaged. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60598.

The lighting chain contains 100/240 series-parallel connected incandescent lamps with resistor bridge. The flashing unit controls the four parallel circuits.
