  • Brand Spektrum (transmitter);E-flite (kit); Hangar 9 (kit).

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Spektrum DX6i radio transmitters used to control model aircraft and helicopters have a faulty electrical connection between the control stick and potentiometers that can cause loss of control. This defect may result in model planes or helicopters falling from the sky, and propellers may spin unexpectedly, potentially injuring the operator or bystanders. Two incidents have been reported. The affected transmitters are sold individually (part numbers SPM6600E and SPM6601E) or as part of three ready-to-fly kits: the E-flite Blade 400 Helicopter (part numbers EFLH1400IM1 and EFLH1400IM2), the E-flite T34 Mentor 25e PTS (part number EFL4800), and the Hangar 9 P-51 Mustang Mk2 PTS (part number HAN4425).

The manufacturer has initiated a voluntary withdrawal of the product from the market and a recall from consumers. The source document does not specify what actions affected consumers should take to return or remedy the product.

Hazard

The product poses a risk of injuries because of a fault with the electrical connections within the DX6i transmitter unit, between the control stick and potentiometers, which can cause model aeroplanes and helicopters they control to fall while in flight. The propellers can also turn unexpectedly causing injury to the user or persons standing too close to the aircraft. The product does not comply with the R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC.Two incidents reported.
