What happened

This BRISTOOL ENGLAND electric planer (model BT/PL822-902) is being recalled due to multiple serious safety hazards. The planer poses risks of electric shock because its insulation strength decreases after thermal testing and the instructions lack essential electrical safety information. The product also creates injury risks because it has no protective shield against contact with the rotating blade, no protection against accidental operation, a switch that can be locked during operation, and easily removable data plates with safety information. Additionally, instructions for safe use are largely missing. During thermal testing, the planer caught fire, creating a fire hazard. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and European standard EN 60745.

The product has been ordered withdrawn from the market and recalled from consumers, with a fine issued by authorities. The record does not specify what actions affected consumers should take to return or remedy the product.
