Passenger car – Brake switch
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Honda has recalled certain 2006 and 2007 model year Civic 4D and Hybrid vehicles due to a defect in the brake switch. The brake switch may fail because silicon grease was incorrectly applied during manufacturing, which could prevent the brake lights from illuminating when the brakes are engaged. This defect poses a risk of accidents since other drivers would not be warned that the vehicle is braking.
The recall affects specific vehicles identified by their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) in several ranges beginning with JHMFD1, JHMFD3, JHMFD4, NLAFD6, and NLAFD7. The importer is taking voluntary corrective action to address this issue. The recall record does not specify what remedy affected consumers should pursue.
