Cosmetic sets for children

Three children's cosmetic sets sold under the GIRLZ brand contain dangerous levels of lead in their eyeshadows, exceeding safe limits set by cosmetics regulations. The affected products are the Bracelet Boutique (model 1370904), the Super Compact Cosmetic Case (model 1370342), and the Compact Cosmetic Case (model 1370905). The Bracelet Boutique and Super Compact Case contain orange eyeshadow with excessive lead, while the Compact Cosmetic Case contains both green and yellow eyeshadows with dangerously high lead levels. The products were manufactured between December 2006 and January 2007.
The manufacturer has voluntarily withdrawn these cosmetic sets from the market. The recall record does not specify what action affected consumers should take with products already in their possession.

The product poses a chemical risk because it contains excessive levels of lead :- in the orange eyeshadow in both the Super Compact Cosmetic Case (1800mg/kg) and the Boutique Bracelet (2500mg/kg),- in both the green eyeshadow (9900mg/kg) and yellow eyeshadow (7500mg/kg) in the Compact Cosmetic Case.The product does not comply with the Cosmetics Directive.
