Bicycle child seat – Kitty Back Grey

  • Brand Bellelli

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

The Kitty Back Grey child bicycle seat manufactured by Bellelli does not meet European safety standards. During testing, the backrest deformed and broke, creating sharp edges that could injure a child. The clamping screw is positioned between the child's legs where it protrudes and can cause injuries, and it lacks adequate protection against loosening, which could cause the child and cyclist to fall. Additionally, the seat's backrest measures only 335 mm high, falling short of the required 400 mm minimum, which increases the risk of head and neck injuries to children.

The affected product is designed for children up to 7 years old and weighing up to 22 kg, and is installed on the rear of a bicycle. It is made of grey plastic and displays the Bellelli brand mark, a production date of 5/05, a TÜV Product set mark, and safety pictograms. The model bar code is 8 020092 070059. Authorities have ordered a sales ban and withdrawal from the market. The source does not specify what remedy is available to consumers who have already purchased this product.
