Men's socks featuring Simpsons and Garfield characters sold by KIK have been voluntarily recalled because they contain prohibited azo dyes that release harmful levels of 4-amino azobenzene. The affected products are black socks with a Garfield motif and "Grrr!" text, grey socks with a Homer Simpson motif and "Man vs. Hammer" text, and black socks with a Garfield motif without text. These socks do not comply with Chemical Restrictions Directive 76/769/EEC.

The products pose a chemical risk because they contain prohibited azo dyes, which release 150 mg/kg (No 1), 97 mg/kg (No 2) and 87 mg/kg (No 3) of 4-amino azobenzene from the textile application of the socks.These products do not comply with the Chemical Restrictions Directive 76/769/EEC.
