What happened

Gore has recalled GORE® Ride On® Low Friction System and GORE® Ride On® Professional System brake cables for road bikes because when installed on Campagnolo-style brake levers, the cables can detach from the brake lever attachment heads, causing brake failure and creating a fall hazard. The recalled cables are silver with housings in black, white, blue, or red, have "GORE Ride-On" or "GORE Ride-On Professional" printed on the housing, and are only affected when used with Campagnolo-style brake levers that have the letters "C," "CC," or "RO" imprinted on the attachment heads. The recall includes cables with specific UPC codes listed on the brake cable boxes.

According to the recall notice, consumers who have these recalled brake cables installed on Campagnolo-style brake levers should stop using their bicycles and contact Gore for a free replacement cable kit. Gore will also reimburse consumers for repair costs associated with the recall.
