Makita U.S.A. is recalling cordless hedge trimmers with teal and black handles because the teal-colored guard on the shear blade is missing, creating a laceration hazard. The recall affects multiple model numbers (XHU07Z, XHU07T, XHU08Z, and XHU08T) with specific serial number ranges. The serial number can be found on the battery mounting port of the trimmer.
Consumers who own one of the recalled trimmers should immediately stop using it and contact Makita U.S.A. Inc. for a free repair. Makita will provide a merchandise return label to ship the trimmer back to the company, where a new blade guard will be installed at no cost. The repaired trimmer will be returned to the consumer with the teal-colored guard in place.
