DeWALT Recalls Nearly 1.4 Million Miter Saws Due to Injury and Laceration Hazards

Is my product affected?

DeWALT 12-inch Sliding Compound Miter Saws

  • Brand DeWALT Industrial Tool Company, of Towson, Maryland

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

DeWALT is recalling nearly 1.4 million miter saws in models DWS779, DWS780, and DHS790 due to a defective rear safety guard that can break or detach. When the guard fails, it can cause projectiles to strike the user or bystanders, and it may allow the user to come into direct contact with the saw blade, creating injury and laceration hazards. The recall affects only saws manufactured between April 2019 and April 2022, identifiable by date codes on the motor end cap (for DWS779 and DWS780) or yellow housing (for DHS790), and only those without a green dot on the nameplate or a black dot on the arm.

Consumers who own a recalled miter saw should stop using it immediately and contact DeWALT to receive either a free repair kit or to arrange a free repair at a DeWALT service center. DeWALT is directly contacting all known purchasers with additional details.
