Intimidator Recalls Intimidator and Mahindra Utility Vehicles (UTVs) Due to Crash Hazard

Is my product affected?

Intimidator and Mahindra branded utility vehicles (UTVs)

  • Brand Intimidator, of Batesville, Ark.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Intimidator and Mahindra utility vehicles from model years 2013 through 2022 are being recalled due to two safety hazards. The throttle cable can freeze in low temperatures, causing the throttle to stick and preventing the brakes from stopping the vehicle. Additionally, certain 2022 Intimidator GC1K models have a software defect that fails to limit the vehicle's speed to 15 mph when the seatbelt is disengaged. The recalled models include the 750, 800, 1000, TGB, and GC1K series in various body styles (Classic, Crew, Truck, and Enforcer configurations). Affected vehicles can be identified by the Intimidator or Mahindra branding on the front grill and model information on the rear-side panels.

Consumers who own recalled vehicles should immediately stop using them and contact an Intimidator or Mahindra authorized dealer to schedule a free repair. The dealer will provide a repair to address the throttle cable issue and install a software update to fix the speed limiter on affected GC1K models. The serial numbers for affected Intimidator vehicles are available at www.intimidatorutv.com/recall/, and Mahindra vehicles with serial numbers between 000000 and 010545 are included in this recall.

Hazard

The throttle cable can freeze at low ambient temperatures, resulting in a stuck throttle which can cause the brakes to fail to stop the vehicle, posing a crash hazard. Additionally, on certain Model Year 2022 Intimidator GC1K vehicles, the onboard software does not prevent consumers from exceeding 15 mph when the seatbelt is disengaged, posing a crash hazard.

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled utility vehicles and contact an Intimidator or Mahindra authorized dealer to schedule a free repair and to receive a software update/fix for the speed limiter.
