Confer Plastics is recalling three models of in-pool step systems due to a hazard where children's limbs can become entrapped in the side openings of the steps, which poses a drowning hazard. The recalled products are model #CCX-AG (a 4-step base for aboveground pools), model #CCX-IG (a 3-step base for in-ground pools), and model #CCX-ADD (an add-on unit for either type of pool). All units manufactured between 2013 and 2018 are affected. The steps and handrails are made of gray and beige plastic, and the manufacturing or date code can be found on the side walls of each step.
Consumers who own these recalled pool step systems should immediately stop using them and contact Confer Plastics for a free repair kit. The repair kit includes additional panels designed to prevent entrapment and comes with installation instructions.
