American Honda Recalls Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles Due to Fire and Burn Hazard (Recall Alert)

What happened

American Honda is recalling all model year 2016 and 2017 Honda Pioneer 1000 recreational off-highway vehicles, as well as some model year 2018 versions. The vehicles were sold in red, blue, green, gray, and yellow. The recalled vehicles have "HONDA" printed on the front, sides, and rear, with "Pioneer 1000" on labels on both sides near the rear. The hazard involves the muffler overheating, which can cause the plastic heat shield to melt or catch fire, creating a fire and burn risk to users.

Consumers who own a recalled vehicle should immediately stop using it. According to the record, affected consumers should contact an authorized Honda Powersports dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair appointment. Honda is contacting all known purchasers directly. The recalled vehicles were sold in various colors including: red, blue, green, gray and yellow. The name "HONDA" is on the front, sides and the rear of the vehicle. The model name Pioneer 1000 is printed on a label located on both sides of the vehicle, near the rear. The serial number (VIN #) is stamped in the frame at the left rear, below the tilt-up bed/seat.
