Regency Fireplace Products has recalled Regency Ultimate U37 and U39 direct vent gas stove fireplaces because their pressure release system can fail, causing the gas stoves to explode and create injury hazards. The affected stoves are black with gold or silver trim around the glass doors and have "Regency" printed on the front, bottom left corner of the pedestals. Specific model and serial number ranges are included in the recall: U39 models with serial numbers 223000001 through 223008520 or 315000001 through 315012548, and U37 models with serial numbers 31001 through 31795, 221000025 through 221002269, 221031585 through 221031745, or 313000001 through 313000457. Serial numbers appear on a label inside the front panel door.
Consumers who own recalled stoves should immediately stop using them, turn off the gas supply to the unit, and contact Regency to schedule a free repair.
