Sonic Smart Wheels self-balancing scooters (hoverboards) with model numbers S-01 or SBW666SL are being recalled due to a hazard with their lithium-ion battery packs. These batteries can overheat, which may cause the hoverboards to smoke, catch fire, or explode. The recalled hoverboards have two wheels at either end of a platform and were sold in black, blue, green, red, white, and yellow colors with an "S" printed in the center of the wheel caps.
If you own one of these recalled hoverboards, you should immediately stop using it. According to the recall notice, consumers should contact Dollar Mania for instructions on how to return the hoverboard and receive a free replacement unit that is UL2272-certified.
