What happened

Smith is recalling all 2016 and 2017 Smith Quantum ski and snowboard helmets because the buckle can disengage, which poses a risk of head injury. The recalled helmets were sold in sizes S, M, L, and XL in seven color combinations: matte black/charcoal, matte white/charcoal, matte Fire (red)/charcoal, matte Klein Blue (blue), matte olive green, matte Reactor (bright green)/black, and matte Thunder gray (gray). You can identify a recalled helmet by the "Smith Quantum" label inside it along with the manufacturing dates.

Consumers with recalled helmets should immediately stop using them and contact Smith for return instructions. Smith will repair the helmets free of charge and cover return shipping costs.
