Is my product affected?

SWIFT wireless gateway sold with fire alarm systems

  • Brand Honeywell International Inc., of Northford, Conn.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Honeywell is recalling SWIFT wireless gateways sold with fire alarm systems. These gateways are round, white devices measuring eight inches in diameter that serve as the connection between fire alarm control panels and smoke detectors in commercial buildings such as offices, hotels, industrial facilities, and apartment complexes. The gateways have failed to properly communicate with connected smoke detectors when significant environmental contaminants are present, which could prevent the detectors from alerting occupants to a fire.

The recalled gateways are sold under multiple brand names including Notifier, Fire-Lite, Gamewell-FCI, Honeywell, and Johnson Controls, with model numbers FWSG, W-GATE, VW-GATE, XLS-WSG, and JFWSG and date codes ranging from 13/14 through 12/15/16 printed on the back of the device. Affected consumers should contact Honeywell to obtain a firmware update for the SWIFT wireless gateway installed on their system. Commercial building customers should continue using the recalled detectors until the firmware update is completed.

Hazard

The smoke detectors connected to the gateway can fail to activate properly when significant environmental contaminants are present, posing a risk that consumers will not be alerted to a fire.

What should I do?

Contact Honeywell for an update of the firmware on the SWIFT wireless gateway(s) installed on the system. Commercial building customers should continue using the recalled detectors until the firmware is updated.
