What happened

Polaris is recalling model year 2017 RMK, PRO-RMK, SKS, and ASSAULT snowmobiles because a weld on the steering post can separate, which would cause loss of steering control and create a crash hazard. The recalled snowmobiles have "Polaris" printed on the seat and "RMK," "PRO," "SKS," or "ASSAULT" printed on the side body panel. Consumers can identify their vehicle by checking the model number and VIN on the right side of the tunnel against the list of recalled models provided, or by visiting www.polaris.com.

Consumers who own a recalled snowmobile should immediately stop using it and contact Polaris to schedule a free repair. Polaris is contacting all known purchasers directly.
