Philips Lighting Expands Recall of Metal Halide Lamps Due to Fire and Laceration Hazards

Is my product affected?

Metal Halide Lamps

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Philips Lighting is recalling Philips Energy Advantage Ceramic Metal Halide Lamps model CDM330 manufactured between May 2011 and March 2014. These 330-watt lamps are designed to replace traditional 400-watt quartz metal halide lamps in high-ceiling industrial, retail, and commercial settings with magnetic ballasts. The outer bulbs on these lamps can shatter, causing hot internal pieces of glass to fall, which creates fire and laceration hazards.

The recalled lamps were sold in both clear and coated versions and can be identified by an etching on the base or glass bulb displaying a date code (a number followed by a letter), "Philips," the wattage, and the model number CDM330. Affected consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lamps and contact Philips for a free replacement.
