What happened

Samsung has recalled all Galaxy Note7 smartphones due to a hazard where the lithium-ion battery can overheat and catch fire, creating serious fire and burn risks to consumers. The recalled devices have a 5.7-inch screen, are marked with "Samsung" on the front and "Galaxy Note7" on the back, and come in black onyx, blue coral, gold platinum, or silver titanium colors. This recall includes all Galaxy Note7 devices previously received as replacements during Samsung's September 15, 2016 recall, as well as any Galaxy Note7 with a green battery icon.

Consumers should immediately stop using and power down all Galaxy Note7 devices. Those who purchased their phones from a wireless carrier or retail outlet should contact that carrier, retailer, or Samsung.com to receive a refund or free exchange for a replacement device with incentives. This recall involves all Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphones. The recalled devices have a 5.7-inch screen and were sold in the following colors: black onyx, blue coral, gold platinum and silver titanium with a matching stylus. Samsung is printed on the top front of the phone and Galaxy Note7 is printed on the back of the phone. This recall involves all Galaxy Note7 devices received as replacements as part of the previous Galaxy Note7 recall on September 15, 2016 and any Galaxy Note 7 with a green battery icon, regardless of date purchased or IMEI.
