Aqua Lung has recalled Powerline inflators that are installed on Aqua Lung and Apeks Black Ice buoyancy compensators used by scuba divers. The recalled black inflators, which measure approximately 20 inches long and 3.5 inches wide and have date codes beginning with "H," have a defect where the inflation button can remain depressed, causing the buoyancy compensator to continue inflating uncontrollably. This malfunction can result in an uncontrolled ascent that poses injury and drowning hazards to divers.
Consumers who own recalled Powerline inflators should immediately stop using them and contact Aqua Lung to arrange for a free repair. The repair involves replacing the inflation button through an authorized Aqua Lung dealer.
