Sauder Woodworking Recalls Chest of Drawers Due to Serious Tip-Over Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Walmart.com (Recall Alert)

Is my product affected?

Four-drawer chests

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Sauder Woodworking is recalling four-drawer wooden chests sold under the Storybook brand (model 416407) exclusively at Walmart.com. The white laminated chests with single white wood pulls on each drawer were manufactured between April and June 2016 and measure 42.13 inches high by 29.25 inches wide by 16.25 inches deep. These chests are unstable unless properly anchored to the wall and pose a serious tip-over and entrapment hazard that could result in death or serious injuries to children due to a manufacturing problem that prevents them from meeting the voluntary safety standard.

According to the recall, affected consumers should immediately stop using any recalled chests that are not properly anchored to the wall and place them in an area children cannot access. Sauder Woodworking is contacting all known purchasers directly and will send free repair kits and wall anchoring kits. Consumers who are unable or unwilling to attach the repair kit should contact Sauder Woodworking for a full refund and will be provided disposal instructions.
