BRP is recalling model year 2013 Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicles equipped with Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) due to a defect in the steering coupling that can strip on the rack and pinion assembly. This defect can cause loss of steering control, creating a crash hazard. The recalled models include the Commander DPS 1000EFI, Commander DPS 800REFI, Commander LTD 1000EFI, Commander X 1000EFI, Commander XT 1000EFI, and Commander XT 800REFI, available in various colors.
Consumers with affected vehicles should immediately stop using them and contact a BRP Can-Am side-by-side dealer to schedule an appointment for a free inspection and repair. BRP is notifying registered consumers directly about this recall. To determine if your vehicle is affected, check the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the label located under the glove box against the recalled VIN list available on www.can-am.brp.com in the Owner Center under Recall Information.
