Carrier is recalling Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps sold under the Bryant, Carrier, and Fast brand names because the power cord plug can overheat and create a fire hazard. The recall includes eight models with capacities of 7,000 to 15,000 BTUs that plug into 208/230-volt, 20-amp outlets, and it covers both units with original power cords and those that previously received a supplemental power cord in a 2007 recall. Model and serial numbers can be found on the ratings plate located on the right front of the unit under the removable front panel.
Consumers who own a recalled unit should stop using it and unplug it immediately. Affected consumers should contact Carrier to receive a free replacement cord. A complete list of recalled serial numbers is available by calling Carrier or visiting www.carrier.com.

The following brands and eight models are being recalled: Carrier models 52CE, 52CQ, 52PE and 52PQ; Bryant models 840 and 841; and Fast models 840 and 841. Model and serial numbers are located on the ratings/data plate on the right front of the unit, underneath the removable front panel.
