Bicycles equipped with front disc brakes and quick release levers
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Thirteen bicycle manufacturers and distributors are recalling bicycles equipped with front disc brakes and black or silver quick-release levers on the front wheel hub. The hazard involves an open quick-release lever coming into contact with the front disc brake rotor, which can cause the front wheel to suddenly stop or separate from the bicycle, potentially injuring the rider. Bicycles are included in this recall if there is less than 6 millimeters (approximately the width of a #2 pencil) between the quick-release lever and the disc brake rotor when the lever is fully opened. A video demonstrating how to check whether a bike is affected is available at www.quickreleaserecall.com.
The recalled bicycles span model years from 2000 to 2015 and include brands such as Diamondback, Raleigh, Cannondale, GT, Felt, Giant, Haro, Specialized, and many others from the listed manufacturers. According to the recall, consumers should stop using the bicycles immediately and contact the recalling company to request free installation of a new quick-release lever on the front wheel. Each manufacturer provides a website and phone number through which affected consumers can arrange this service.
