Instant Pot "Smart" and "Smart-60" electric pressure cookers are being recalled because the thermal probe in the base can conduct electricity throughout the cooker, creating a risk of electric shock to users. The recall applies to stainless steel models with black molded plastic attachments and Bluetooth capability that have serial numbers between 1410 and 1503 and manufacture dates between December 1, 2014 and June 1, 2015. These units are approximately 12 inches in diameter and 12 inches tall, with "Instant Pot" and "Smart" printed on the front control panel. The serial number and manufacture date are located on a label on the bottom of the pressure cooker's base.
Consumers with affected pressure cookers should stop using the product immediately and contact Instant Pot for instructions on receiving a free replacement base, which includes the entire bottom of the cooker and control panel. The manufacturer is contacting all purchasers directly regarding the recall.
