What happened

Liebherr has recalled certain built-in 30-inch wide bottom freezer refrigerators because the door can detach, creating an injury hazard. The affected models are Liebherr refrigerators in stainless steel and custom finishes that are built into kitchen cabinetry, including models C 1600, C 1601, CI 1600, CI 1601, C 1650, C 1651, CI 1650, CI 1651, and CI 1700 with various index numbers. The problem occurs when the door hinge pin becomes loose, which consumers can identify by checking for a popped-up hinge pin at the top or bottom of the door.

Consumers who have a recalled refrigerator should contact Liebherr immediately to schedule a free in-home repair. Before scheduling service, consumers should check their refrigerator to see if the hinge pin has become loose. If the hinge pin has not loosened and the door is functioning properly, the refrigerator can continue to be used until it is repaired.
