What happened

Kid's Patrol is recalling approximately 12,000 Athletic Team zippered vests that were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores from June through October 1997. The vests are blue with red and white trim and feature a football logo with "ATHLETIC TEAM" on the chest. They were sold as part of a three-piece set with a sweatshirt and sweatpants for about $11 in sizes for 12-month, 18-month, and 24-month-old children. The zipper pulls can slide off the top of the vest, creating a choking hazard for young children, though no injuries have been reported.

According to the recall notice, consumers should stop using the vest immediately and return the vest or three-piece set to any Wal-Mart store for a refund or store credit. For additional information, consumers can contact Kid's Patrol toll-free at (800) 562-5373 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.
