What happened

The Ducane Company has recalled approximately 2,100 upflow horizontal oil furnaces manufactured between April 1994 and August 1996 due to a hazard of fire and fire-related burns. The problem involves heat exchangers in the furnaces that can crack. The recall was initiated after the company discovered a crack in one of its furnaces, though no injuries have been reported to date. The affected furnaces are 150,000- and 200,000-Btu models distributed under multiple brand names including American Standard, Bard, Bryant, Carrier, Ducane, Goodman, Heil, Lincoln, Nordyne, Quiet Automatic, and York, with specific model numbers detailed in the recall announcement.
