Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Southern Sales and Marketing Group is recalling 900,000 plastic lawn chairs sold nationwide between January 1992 and September 1995 for approximately $6 each. The recalled chairs come in three styles—"Perla," "Althea," and "Malibu"—and are white plastic chairs measuring 22 inches deep, 22 inches wide, and 32 inches high. The hazard is that the rear legs lack rubber feet and may spread or break, causing the chair to collapse. The company is aware of 39 incidents involving these chairs, with injuries ranging from minor bruises to back injuries. The chairs were sold at grocery and home supply stores including Winn Dixie, Cub Foods, and Scotty's. The 1996 styles of these chairs, which have rubber feet on the rear legs, are not being recalled.
Affected consumers should stop using the lawn chairs and return them to the store where they were purchased for either a full refund or a replacement. For more information about the recall, consumers can contact Southern Sales and Marketing Group at (800) 729-5033.
