Remington Products Co., LLC is recalling its Vortex Ultra hairdryers (model V-1030) because they lack an appliance leakage current interrupter plug (ALCI plug) that would shut off electrical power if the device contacts water. If dropped in water, these hairdryers can cause electrocution. The recalled hairdryers are 1600-watt models with a chrome body, black speed and heat controls, and the model name printed in black on the air intake grill.
According to the recall, consumers should immediately stop using these hairdryers and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund. Alternatively, consumers can mail the hairdryers to Remington Products Co., LLC at 60 Main St., Bridgeport, Connecticut 06604, and the company will reimburse shipping costs. Consumers should indicate whether they want a full refund or a replacement hairdryer that includes an ALCI plug.

The model name, "Remington Vortex Ultra," is printed in black on one side of the air intake grill; with the model number, V-1030, and the words, "Do Not Immerse In Water" and "Made in China" printed in silver on the other side. The hairdryers have a UPC number of 0-74590- 87541-6, which is located on the packaging box.
