LaJobi Recalls Babi Italia Pinehurst and Bonavita Hudson Drop Side Cribs; Risk of Entrapment and Suffocation

Is my product affected?

Bonavita "Hudson" and Babi Italia "Pinehurst" Drop Side Cribs

  • Brand LaJobi Inc., of Cranbury, N.J.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

LaJobi has recalled Babi Italia Pinehurst and Bonavita Hudson drop side cribs manufactured between December 2006 and August 2007 due to a hazard with the lower spring pins on the footboard and headboard. These pins can pop out of the tracks on the drop side, causing the drop side to detach from the crib. When detachment occurs, a dangerous gap opens between the drop side and the mattress where infants and toddlers can become entrapped, suffocate, or fall.

The recalled cribs are wooden with metal mattress support and come in finishes including cherry, espresso, natural, and white. You can identify a recalled crib by checking the label on the footboard or headboard for a production date between December 2006 and August 2007. Since the manufacturer is out of business, the recall instructs consumers not to use these cribs and to discard or destroy them.

Hazard

The lower spring pins on the footboard and headboard can pop out of the tracks located on the drop side causing the drop side to detach from the crib. When the drop side detaches, it creates a hazardous gap between the drop side and the crib mattress in which infants and toddlers can become entrapped and suffocate or fall from cribs.

What should I do?
