Kidde Recalls to Replace Fire Extinguishers Due to Failure to Operate

Is my product affected?

Kidde XL Fire Extinguishers

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Kidde is recalling certain XL Fire Extinguishers because their pressurized cylinders may lose pressure and fail to operate during a fire, potentially putting consumers and property at risk. The recall affects model numbers FX340SC, FX340H, FX340GW, XL5MR, FX210R, FX340SC-2, FX210W, XL2.5TCZ-4, and E-340-3 manufactured between October 2007 and April 2008. You can identify your extinguisher by checking the model number on the front label and the manufacture year (marked as 07 or 08) on the bottom.

If you have one of the recalled models, you should immediately inspect the pressure gauge on your extinguisher. If the needle points to the red zone, contact Kidde to receive a free replacement extinguisher. If the gauge is not in the red zone but you own an extinguisher matching one of the listed model numbers with a 2007 or 2008 manufacture date, you should still contact Kidde for additional information about whether your specific unit is affected.
