Bosch Thermotechnology has recalled service kits distributed free to contractors and distributors that contain a silver-colored gas pipe adapter. This adapter can cause gas leakage, which poses a fire or explosion hazard. The recalled kit, marked with the number 8718600187 on the box, was used to evaluate heating water quality effects on Buderus gas-fired condensing boilers with model numbers GB142/24, GB142/30, GB142/45, and GB142/60.
Consumers with the affected boiler models that were serviced after February 1, 2010, should contact their service provider to find out whether this kit was installed in their boiler. If the kit was installed, consumers should arrange with the service provider for an immediate free inspection and repair. Contractors and distributors who received kits from Bosch are directly contacting affected consumers.

The recalled product is a service kit that was distributed for free to some contractors and distributors that contained a silver-colored adapter. The kit, which has the number 8718600187 on the side of the box, was used as part of a program to evaluate the effects of heating water quality on components of Buderus gas-fired condensing gas boilers with model numbers GB142/24, GB142/30, GB142/45, and GB142/60. The model number is located on a label on the bottom left side of the boiler.
