What happened

A.O. Smith is recalling 75-gallon natural and propane gas water heaters sold under the A.O. Smith and State brand names. The recalled units can experience excessively high flue gas temperatures in the venting unit, creating a fire hazard. Additionally, exhaust from these water heaters can leak into the surrounding room, posing a carbon monoxide hazard to occupants.

The recall affects specific A.O. Smith models FCG-75 300 and FCG-75 301, and State models GS6 75 XRR S and GS6 75 CRR S with serial numbers within the specified ranges. Consumers who own affected water heaters should immediately stop using them and contact A.O. Smith to arrange for a free repair.
