What happened

Fisher-Price has recalled Bongo Band toys because the surface paints contain excessive levels of lead, which violates federal law prohibiting lead paint on children's toys. The recalled toys include two bongos with plastic drum bases—one with a yellow and green base and blue drum surface, and another with a yellow and green base and orange drum surface marked "It's a Big, Big World." The toys come with animal-shaped accessories including a monkey, bird, tambourine, and drum stick. The recalled products have the product number K9343 printed inside the orange drum and a date code between 139-7SH and 232-7SH on the drum's orange ring surface.

According to the recall notice, consumers who have the recalled toys should immediately remove them from children and contact Fisher-Price for return instructions to receive a free replacement toy.
